Times are changing an so does the snack food – instead of fried potatoes and dipping sauce, more and more people decide to try (and eventually get hooked up on) baked zucchini fries.
Making the baked zucchini fries is quite easy, anybody can do it. You can even include you children in the preparation, making it as much fun as their consumption. To make the baked zucchini fries you need the following:
– 2 medium zucchini, which you have to cut into sticks
– 1/3 cup of breadcrumbs
– 1/2 teaspoon of dried Italian herb mixture
– 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.
– 1 tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese
– 1 egg white
– a pinch of cayenne pepper
– salt and pepper (depends on your taste)
Since zucchini will be baked, prepare a baking tray by placing a baking paper on top of it or grease a cooling rack which can be put inside the baking rack. The choice of baking trays does not matter, as long as the can be used for baking.
Take bowl and toss the egg, in another bowl mix together the breadcrumbs, the dried Italian herb mixture, the garlic powder, the grated parmesan cheese, the cayenne pepper, the salt and pepper. Now, take a zucchini stick, dip it in the egg bowl and then dip it in the second bowl coating the stick with the seasoning mixture; than place the stick in the baking tray. Repeat the same technique with the rest of the sticks.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake the zucchini sticks for around 20 minutes, until they get that brown, crispy color. Use any type of dipping sauce you prefer for consumption and enjoy.
